Plaster penetration basement wall

I was thinking of removing an unused air pump unit. This will leave an 8-10cm hole exposed: what's the best way to do this - I was thinking of pressing in foam and filling the middle with it - then plastering the last 2-3 cm from the inside and outside: will it hold? Anything I'm missing?

It should work. You can use husfix for that but I would have applied a bit thicker on the outside (40-50 mm).
