In the basement, there is an old window frame that is stuck between the old part of the house and an extension (a hole between two rooms). The frame is in a very difficult position, making it hard to remove, and I am now considering hiding it in plaster as I want to tidy up this hole. There is also electrical wiring placed right against the frame, which makes it even more troublesome to remove it.

Can you plaster directly on wood like this? Fasten a mesh to the frame and then use b-mortar, could this work without risking cracks? The idea is to close the window as a "shelf" with spotlights in the "ceiling."

Tore off the frame, concrete blocks so it was easy to run the electricity there.

Now you have apparently solved it but it looks like there is gypsum on the wall so why not just fill the hole with a gypsum board and spackle the joint.

If you're going to plaster over, you need to use gipsputs.
