I was thinking of replacing the exterior door in the near future.
Currently, I have quite ugly brick framing the door on the outside that I would like to cover when I install the new door.
I'm wondering if it would work to use planed pine around it and "dress" it like you do with trim indoors. I realize I obviously need to paint and treat them beforehand, but will it work with the same paint I use when priming the facade panel and then topcoat with the right color a number of times?
The pine won't be exposed to large amounts of water since it's under a roof, but it will have to withstand temperature/humidity differences.
The reason I want planed wood is that I want a smooth finish all around. Is this the best choice of wood for that?
