I am thinking of building a roof over part of my deck, like a pergola. That is, not a solid roof but just a roof of green climbing plants that light can filter through. But I am tall and the house is low. See picture. The roof would go from the gable to the satellite dish (which is gone now).
At the house wall, the height is two meters, and since the deck roof should slope outwards, the roof height at the outer edge will be about one and a half meters. Not good for a two-meter man.
So I have been thinking. A painful task, but sometimes necessary. Can I raise the deck roof according to this picture, or will it not look right?
The deck roof will, therefore, be higher than the house roof, and the beam that supports the roof will be attached to the house with a horizontal mount right at the roofline.
