I'm in the process of replacing my living room ceiling. Previously, it had been lowered about 10 cm with various items. Finally, there had been a stretched rubber sheet that I have taken down.
Now there is a 35x70 beam at the top along the entire ceiling according to the picture. It's as solid as hell. My plan is to install 28x70 battens and then single gypsum board. But is it better to just leave it and then mount 35x70 timber in the ceiling like my original plan? Are there any drawbacks other than the weight of the timber?
