Hello I plan to remove old tiles lying on top of a wooden shingle roof and replace them with a metal roof. I also plan to install solar panels on the south side. My questions are now what dimensions of counter battens and purlins should I use and what should the c-c measurements be? The rafters are at c-c 150 cm. Do I need to lay protective fabric or oil-hardened masonite over the shingle roof? The entire roof area is about 400 m2. The climate zone is Gävleborg. Since it's a large roof, every decision has a big impact on the price.
Should it continue to be a barn?
That is, unheated and well-ventilated.
In that case, I would have let the shavings be the underroof with no other layers.
Use coarse battens i.e. 70×45 or more because old tile roofs often look like hammocks if you want to level over the rafters I think it's easier with self-supporting battens.

No, if the wooden shingle roof is in good condition, it works as an underroof.
