Oil-hardened Masonite or not - Wind deflector
Hello!
I'm about to install wind deflectors in our new build and I was thinking of making my own deflectors out of masonite instead of spending on the ready-made cardboard solutions available on the market. Should I use oil-hardened masonite or regular? From what I understand, the oil-hardened version is less diffusion-open in comparison, which is why some recommend the regular one. I've tried to read up on the forum but I can't come to a conclusion that I feel confident with. We're using a vapor retarder and cellulose on top of it. We were told that an air gap isn't necessary with cellulose, but after some consultation, it was recommended that we include it.
Thanks in advance!

Use oil-hardened. But make sure it is airtight at the bottom and along the sides.
