Hello,

We live in a multi-family building built in 2013. Something very strange is that we hear our upstairs neighbors' dryer. We hear this in our living room (we live in a 2.5-room apartment).
I have previously lived in an apartment, newly built from 2011, without hearing anything.
I don't mind the sound of the dryer itself; the problem is that when it's done, it goes on afterheat. For 2 hours (!!), which means it stops and then runs for 5-10 seconds every minute.
This sound is incredibly disturbing as we can hear it even when the TV is on. We hear both the neighbors directly above us and the ones above them as well.
The aftermarket service has been and filmed in the shaft and claims that it is properly sealed/performed.
What do you think is causing us to hear the sound so clearly?

Regards,
Maria

It's probably that the sound is transmitted through the building structure itself. Perhaps something like this under the neighbors' machine could reduce the problems: https://quickparts.se/stotdampande-gummimatta-60-x-60-x-08-cm/107063

No direct answer to your problem, it's not afterheat it's running on but wrinkle protection, wrinkle protection usually lasts for two hours. Wrinkle protection is just what it sounds like, a protection to prevent the clean, dry laundry from becoming wrinkled, that's why the drum rotates a bit. On many machines, a buzzer sounds at the same time as the drum rotates, this buzzer can usually be turned off.

Talk to the neighbor, tell the neighbor that the dryer is audible and that the laundry should be taken care of as early as possible during the wrinkle protection period.
