I have searched for some information about this here on the forum and elsewhere but only received responses like "difficult" and "think ahead" but I am completely convinced that, as before, I can get help from you on the Forum.
The general question is how to create a ventilated air gap when adding new insulation in a house built without air gaps using sawdust as insulation.
In my case, it’s about a house from -32 with a broken roof, so that most of the exterior wall on the upper floor is the steep part of the roof. In a couple of places, there are cold closets that become very cold in winter and basically chill the entire upper floor. I want to add new and thicker insulation. What I would like is to have an air gap on the outside closest to the outer roof. I cannot figure out how to ventilate it. At the lower edge, a hole would be needed down in the "roof overhang," and at the top, an open channel to the attic would be required. Do you have any suggestions on how I should proceed, or have I overcomplicated it unnecessarily (not the first time if so

)?
