Hello!

We have concluded that we need to move the wall between the entrance and kitchen about 30 cm towards the kitchen to fit regular wardrobes from IKEA there. Currently, it is at most 40 cm "deep" between the wall and the front door, which means that only a hat shelf or IKEA's shallow wardrobes fit, and we have quickly realized that these are nowhere near enough storage for us as we are expecting a new addition.

The house is a Smålandsvilla from 2006, and what I have heard from others who have moved interior walls is that there are copious amounts of nails in both the upper and lower studs. Additionally, electricity comes down from the ceiling through a junction box in this wall further into the house. There is also underfloor heating in the entrance, and a thermostat and sensor are also in this wall. The entrance floor also has tiles (some tiles are saved).

The questions are as follows:

1) After we have removed the plasterboard and freed all the electricity, how do we best demolish the wall without damaging too much of the floor and ceiling? Apparently, there are about 40 nails up and down, and how are these best cut? Is it easiest to just pry them away with a crowbar? And then putty and paint the parts of the ceiling that can't be salvaged? The ceiling is painted gypsum board.

2) The wall extends beyond the tiles by about 2 decimeters. When the wall is moved, there will be a gap in the parquet where the old interior wall was. How do you best cover this more or less invisibly?

If one were to hire a carpentry company (one man), how much time would they need to demolish the old wall and build and plaster a new wall? Is one day enough? Assuming all the electricity is disconnected.

Thanks in advance
S

The nails can surely be easily sawed off with a multi-tool or a reciprocating saw and pried with a crowbar. As long as it's not a load-bearing wall, you can just get started. The hole in the parquet can probably be figured out when you see it.
