We have a Rosengrens type modular chimney from 1973. It is placed quite centrally in the house, so it goes through the upper floor in a way that is not entirely optimal.
Conditions
- The house previously had an oil burner, but now it is gas heating with a condensing gas boiler, so no traditional chimney sweeping is done anymore.
- The total height from the gas boiler outlet to the chimney top is about 4-5 meters.
- There is a motor on the roof (in the chimney) for mechanical exhaust.
- The kitchen fan and toilet vents exit into the same duct.
Questions
1. Is it possible to reroute the chimney at the upper floor so that it angles outward towards the angled wall/crawl space, and then continues upward at an angle before having another bend?
2. How will this affect the draft and what should be considered in that case?
3. Are there other alternatives?
