Hello!
We need to move the doorway between the hall and the future kitchen slightly to be able to have base cabinets along the wall. The house was built in '38. In the picture, we need to open up about 20cm to the right and close off the same amount on the left. There is an upper floor above. The roof trusses run parallel to the same direction as the wall. Can we assume it's not a problem then? The chimney is visible to the right in the picture. It's a very small change, but I think it's best to ask what you think anyway.

  • Doorway in wooden wall being altered in home renovation project; debris on floor, chair, and construction tools visible.
No problem. If you want, you can install a permanent stud (maybe glue and screw) next to the new left door frame's stud.

Thanks for the response.
Sounds like a good idea to provide a little extra support.. even if it might not be necessary. Better to have one stud too many.
