I will install radiators. One radiator is 2.5 meters and incredibly heavy, so I want to ensure it hangs securely. These are Thermopanel V4 radiators.

What type of screws should I use to secure the mounting rails?

There is 13 mm gypsum board and 12 mm chipboard behind. In some places, there's also a stud behind the chipboard.

Maybe a trivial question for some, but I want to be sure. Regular wood screws? Some type of metal anchor?

Round-headed wood screw type 6x70-90 if you have a stud behind. 6x40-50 if you only have chipboard. It may be worth pre-drilling the chipboard.

A 2.5-meter radiator probably has 3 brackets if it’s a V4, which means 6 fastenings. It probably doesn’t weigh more than 50-60 kg unless it’s a TP21 or thicker. In that case, maybe 70-80, but either way no problems with the above.

I have older radiators that I'm installing, they have cc80 and cc70 and other nice measurements between welded brackets for the mounts. Are there any tricks to secure this? Simple chipboard wall, I don't even know if it's 22mm. Maybe it's thinner.

Do you need to use some form of sealant/joint compound when you screw it in? Considering the vapor barrier etc?

Just like the previous writer, I would advocate for metal expanders when you want to be sure it stays in place. I use it when, for example, mounting water heaters on chipboard as it is not as strong as, for example, plywood.
