Hello!
I'm a complete novice in construction/roof installation and my Google patience is exhausted. Now I hope for one or more kind souls who can answer my questions.
I want to mount a curtain track on the window wall that is 3 meters long.
The track only needs to be single track and it doesn't matter if it overlaps (doesn't need to be connectable if I need 2 pieces). The track can be very basic but not junk, as I will attach two blackout curtains to it. The house is from the 70s and the ceiling can be pressed in a bit with a finger (feels a bit soft and the material behind the paint is brown and porous).

So now I wonder:
1. What kind of ceiling is this?
2. What type of screws should I use?
3. Any recommendations for a nice ceiling track?
4. Have I missed anything?

  • Close-up of ceiling with exposed brown, porous material and wires visible through a hole, related to a question about installing curtain tracks in a 70s house.
  • Ceiling with white panels, recessed light, and visible electrical wire in a 1970s home.

Looks like some kind of fiberboard? It's not rocket science, you probably have some screw at home you can test by screwing next to where the cables go out to the ceiling lamp, so that the hole will be hidden by the lamp later. If the screw works there, you have a winner.
