Hello, I'm planning to mount the TV on the wall this weekend. The wall where the TV will be mounted is a single layer of drywall and behind that is an old chimney breast from the 1940s. The chimney is no longer used except for ventilation.

The TV weighs about 40kg.

I think it should be possible to screw it into the chimney breast with plugs, or would you have reinforced the wall?

I'm thinking of using such a wall mount.

Go ahead with the plug.
40kg is very little and the breaking force is minimal since the mount and the TV are so close to the wall.

If you're worried, you can first screw up a smaller plywood board (as a cover for the TV) and then attach the bracket to it. This can be done if the screw points on the bracket do not match studs or feel too few for secure mounting in drywall.

The downside is that it adds 12mm.

There is a chimney behind so there are no studs there. You could cover the entire wall with plywood and then there will be an acoustic panel behind the TV anyway.
It is only a surface of about 220x270cm

Yes, the plywood board is simply screwed onto the existing surface so you have something sturdy to screw the mount into. The board can be smaller than the TV so it is hidden.

As mentioned, primarily to adjust according to the studs or to get more screw points against drywall.
