Hi,

I cut out and was going to repair a piece of drywall in the closet located behind the stove and ftx range hood.

When I saw the plywood behind the drywall (the plywood was probably put there to attach the ftx), it had black spots on it. Is it mold? I didn't smell anything and the moisture content was around 11%.

It felt a bit cold and like there was a kind of dried-up sticky residue on the surface.

I don't have any water pipes there, so it's hard to see where moisture would come from…

Regards,

Markus Cut-out wall section showing plywood with black spots, possibly mold, indicating concern about moisture behind a kitchen stove and FTX ventilation. A moisture meter reading 11.6% is held against a wooden surface with dark spots, possibly indicating mold. The context is a renovation project behind a stove.

It could have been moisture-damaged when it was installed, but with the low moisture values, you have nothing to worry about.

Could grease have leaked from the ventilation duct in some way? Like from a seam or something.
