Material to put against wall below ground?

Hi!

Is there any panel/board that can be placed against a lightweight concrete wall (basement) that is below ground level? I know that you're not supposed to put organic materials on a wall that is below ground, but this is a small area under a staircase. I want to be able to paint on it. How about minerit? Or is there another suitable panel?

Sure, fiber cement boards of the minerit type work there. You can also plaster the wall. But keep in mind that if you have a lot of moisture migration in the wall today, that moisture may have a harder time passing through a painted board, and could lead to increased moisture content in the wall.
