I have a couple of questions regarding bricklaying. I'm planning to make a small extension of brick in connection with the existing chimney. The extension will protrude a couple of decimeters onto the wooden floor. How do I attach the brick to the wooden floor, is it with the same type of mortar that I use for laying the bricks?

The second question is whether it's worthwhile to do it myself? It's about a couple of square meters, of which approximately half of the bricks need to be cut. What might a bricklayer charge for this work? The materials are already available.

I don't really understand what you want to achieve?

Was it the question you did not understand, how to attach brick to wood, or what I was going to build :)

Cut away the wooden floor under the brick wall.
