We are in the planning stage of building our house. (So far. Don't know when the plot purchase and so on will happen...)

We have designed the house ourselves and will also build the house ourselves.

Originally, we thought of using bricks, but some time ago we found an advertisement for Marmoroc façade stone.
This seems quite convenient, so we wonder if anyone has experience with this?
Positive and negative experiences, and preferably compared to regular bricks.

PS: I saw that a similar question was raised earlier in the forum, but there was no useful answer... So I am trying too... hum.

Marmoroc might not be the most common façade material in Sweden for single-family homes. I don't know how much you know about the Marmoroc façade system.

Simply put, it's a stone made of, among other things, crushed marble, cement, and color pigments, which is mounted on special steel rails that are screwed into the façade in different ways depending on the substrate.

In terms of building technology, the Marmoroc stone is a good product. It is maintenance-free, easy to install, and thanks to the construction of the steel rail, you get a ventilated façade. Compared to a brick façade, the Marmoroc façade is not nearly as sensitive to the building's movements and subsidence because the Marmoroc stone hangs freely in its steel rails. These have special hooks that catch onto the stone.

Aesthetically, the Marmoroc stone cannot be compared to a brick façade. If you mount Marmoroc stone on a typical Swedish wooden house, it often looks quite "thin" because the stone, including the fasteners, only extends a few centimeters from the substrate compared to perhaps 10-13 cm for a traditional brick façade.

On wooden houses with a Marmoroc façade, metal cladding is usually used around the windows since the niche depth on the outside is too small for it to be possible to attach the Marmoroc stone to the exterior window niche.

When it comes to additional insulation and the installation of Marmoroc stone on concrete houses, it becomes different both structurally and aesthetically.

Appearance is a matter of taste, so try to look at some houses with a Marmoroc façade and see if you like what you see. The appearance is somewhat unique from Swedish eyes, not resembling a conventional brick façade or mexibrick façade.

Anyway, purely from a construction standpoint, the Marmoroc stone is a good product.
