Hello!

My girlfriend and I are demolishing a holiday home to build a new permanent residence.

We have just demolished the chimney and are considering what to do with the bricks. There are quite a few, many undamaged, but many with minor knocks and some pulverized.

Thoughts have been about selling? Using it as fill in the foundation of the new house? Or taking it to the dump?

So what do you think, could it generate some money - if not, is it suitable as fill?

Thanks in advance and have a great day!

I wouldn't want to buy demolished bricks. Instead, think about what you could do with them yourselves. Build something, for example, a wood-fired oven?

You can use them as a base for a greenhouse or as fill.
Sell? Well, at least you won't have to do the work of throwing them away if you take a few kronor per brick.

Can you tell me a bit more about Why you wouldn't want to buy demolished bricks?
You still recommend that the original poster should build something with these demolished bricks...

Thanks in advance and have a nice day!
Don't throw it away, there is a second-hand market with many wanting that old look, for example, for an accent wall indoors😊

Because I don't know anything about the bricks' provenance if I were to buy them from an unknown source. Is that hard to understand?

I also have some bricks lying around, considering splitting them lengthwise and placing them on edge/lengthwise as flooring in a hallway.

Yes, it's hard to understand why it's important to know exactly where salvage bricks come from.
Moreover, datja hadn't given any reason at all why they would never want to deal with salvage bricks and I have no idea what datja was thinking.

Bricks in chimneys are usually not frost-resistant, so they are not suitable for building greenhouses.

No, I said I wouldn't buy used bricks. Read what I write. Have used old bricks myself sometimes.

On the ball?

Eager?
Can't you elaborate a bit instead? Why does the origin of the brick matter and can't the seller specify where the brick comes from, I wonder?

Hello!
How do we best find that out? Are there different bricks on the outer and inner parts? It's a summer house that has stood cold during the winters.

I think I saw a stamp "ÅBY" on one of the bricks if that helps :)

It is guaranteed to be old bakmurstegel that is not frost-resistant for outdoor use.

Do not use that for filling, bricks retain moisture in the ground and are not suitable as fill near houses.
