Hello!

We have a small and old log house that has been insulated with fiberglass against the pitched roof (the plastic on the wrong side, moreover) but now we want to install wood fiber insulation with a vapor retarder.

Wondering a bit about what is the best way to frame for the insulation. You can see a bit how the previous owners "framed" it, and it didn't feel like a particularly solid construction. There was beadboard on top, which we also plan to install.

Grateful for answers!

  • Interior of an old timber house attic with wood planks on the ceiling and sawdust covering uneven beams, showing outdated construction.
  • Interior of a rustic attic with wooden beams and loose insulation on the floor, showcasing an old construction style with visible electrical wires near a small window.
  • Old timber house attic with wooden beams and sawdust insulation on the floor, showing previous owner's inadequate wood framing. Small window on the right.
Insulate the roof from the outside instead

Ah, okay, unfortunately that's too much work for our circumstances, otherwise we would gladly have done it :/
