Hi!
I am planning to build a loft bed in the closet of my rental apartment, using an IKEA mattress (2x1.40) with a slatted base that just needs to be "elevated," so to speak. I'm thinking of using 4 logs purchased from Bauhaus as legs, attaching two battens (4cm) to two of the walls, which are concrete (I think, what is the difference between that and cement?), and affixing the mattress to them, while letting it rest with its lower part (i.e., the corner of the slatted frame, not the actual slats) on the logs. I plan to use a "flat angle bracket" to connect the log to the mattress and have received advice on various types of screws, etc., at Bauhaus. I will also attach the logs - the "legs" - with battens to the wall for stability. I've figured this out by Googling and asking around, but I'm also reaching out here, as I've never built anything before - what should I keep in mind? Can anyone help me with tips and advice? How do you drill, for example? I don't have a drill, but what should I consider when borrowing/buying one?
So grateful for any help!
Sissela
