Hello,

I want to apply a point load to my slab.
How do you easily calculate how much the slab can withstand?

Blueprint showing concrete slab with point load, rebar Ø5 s200, and foam insulation layers of 100KPA and 200KPA.

It depends on the size of the load, the nature of the ground, and the strength of the foam plastic. Once you know this, you can calculate the area over which you need to distribute the load. Then you check the slab's capacity against the moments and shear forces that arise.

if you calculate ground 200kpa
cellplast according to the image
180KN
then the footing would need to distribute the load over 3m?

Exactly, however, it could be that the ground has worse properties than the cell plastic. I assume that the slab is already cast? What is the load coming down, 180kN is still quite a bit of load.
