Have bought a house and wonder if it is a load-bearing wall that I want to open up between the kitchen and living room.
It seems unlikely that this would be load-bearing since the roof trusses should go from outer wall to outer wall, and the wall does not go through the entire house.

The wall is in the middle where you have the walkway in the attic. So what do you mean? Regards

Well, the wall is probably not needed for the walkway; it doesn't seem likely. I have had walkways in attics without walls underneath; the rafter arm usually handles it without any problem.

And the rafters should handle significantly larger loads than that and usually run from outer wall to outer wall. If they were made with a central wall, it should go through the entire house... that's why I guess that the wall on the drawing isn't load-bearing. But there are, of course, always construction variations, so if you're unsure, you should keep it or at least provide support for it, or alternatively, have an engineer take a look at it.
