We are planning to take down a wall that has been there since the 80s. The wall is between the living room and the hallway. It is not a full wall; from the floor, it is about 110 cm, and then there are 3 windows, followed by maybe 10 cm of wall again. We plan to remove it to get a bigger living room.

Disregard the scribbles. If pictures, the wall we just scribbled at the dining table.

  • Drawing of a floor plan with wall and windows marked in blue ink, showing the area between the living room and hall to be modified.
It is not possible to tell based on this draft. Firstly, you need to see in which direction the rafters go, so the whole house and preferably a sectional drawing are needed. Also, I don't understand your text, what kind of wall is actually supposed to be removed.

I don't quite understand what you're writing, but it looks like the entrance is an extension of the existing house. If that's the case, then it's a former exterior wall, meaning it's load-bearing. Is the farstu properly insulated? Otherwise, it will be cold by the table.

It's quite difficult to make a qualified guess based on your picture. Firstly, there's a lot of clutter on it and then it's not possible to get an overall impression of the house's layout and possible construction.

What type of roof do you have? Upper floor? In which direction do rafters/joists etc. go?

Good questions should find out things
