Load-bearing wall in a 1940s cabin?
I want to take down a wall, but after removing the Tretex and seeing that it consists of thick vertical timber, I became uncertain whether it is load-bearing or not. I had assumed that only the outer walls are load-bearing.
The cottage is from the 1940s in a single story. The wall runs across the house's length and is an extension of the chimney and the 60cm masonry wall.
Can you also take a row from the masonry wall to create a larger opening?

It cannot be determined solely with this information. The house likely has a frame structure with solid wood in all walls, whether load-bearing or not. The brick walls that protrude from the chimney have had a fire protection function with respect to the wood stove in the kitchen, stove, and fireplace in the living room. Supplement with section drawings/photos from the attic/exterior photos.
Thank you! I suspected that was the purpose of the wall. In neither the attic nor the crawl space can I see anything that would indicate that this would be a load-bearing wall here.
I'll get back with pictures.

Do the floorboards in the attic have the same direction all the way?
There are no boards further inside, only shavings.

OK. What direction do the floor joists over the living room run?
Same direction as the wall I want to demolish.

The wall is not load-bearing.

Then it's OK to tear down the wall. The attic beams over the living room have a very large span when positioned that way, hence my hesitation. But they don't carry any load. It's no coincidence that there are no floorboards in this part of the attic.
Thank you very much for the help!
