Hello

I am planning to renovate the attic in an old house and am wondering what is easiest for leveling the floor or if it's even necessary.

Currently, there is a plank floor with planks 20-25 cm wide. The floor slopes about 10 cm over the span of 4 m from one gable.

1. Should I remove the old plank floor and screw and glue battens to the sides of the old floor, then add sparse paneling, underfloor heating, and flooring? (a lot of work, it's about 100 m2)

2. Should I use self-leveling compound on the entire surface (expensive and heavy) and lay underfloor heating in the compound?

3. Let the slope remain and live with it, nailing sparse paneling directly onto the old floor with underfloor heating and flooring.

4. Any other solution?

I am planning to lay a solid pine floor.

What do you think?

If it shifts as much as 10 cm, I would have leveled the floor. I would go with option 1. Maybe not the entire surface needs leveling?

If you're going to install underfloor heating, I don't think you can have thick solid pine flooring. It's too thick for the heat to rise properly. But maybe you're already aware of this.

It's not possible to give good advice without better information about what the joist looks like. In the worst-case scenario, you might have to lift a floorboard. You need to know the dimensions of the floor joists, the span (length), and the c/c distance. Knowing the age of the house is always helpful. It might be necessary to reinforce the joist. Old attics are usually not built for heavier loads. I think you should dismiss the idea of floor heating immediately.

How did you proceed with the project? Curious because of my own unfinished attic :)

Hello again I have not moved forward yet. I don't know if I should take up the floor and level it (it's 100m2 so it will be a lot of work). Actually, I want to keep the old and level it from above. The cc measurement of the floor beams is 110 cm and they are sturdy 90 *200. Is there any opinion on a solution, please give it to me someone ??? I have plates upwards.

Level the floor above, e.g. Nivell system. Then floor chipboard on top of it.
It's also possible to achieve the same result by propping up a 45mm stud so everything is level. Just make sure to secure everything. Don't forget insulation, otherwise it sounds hollow.
