Hello,

I have an old wooden house with a stone foundation (natural stone/granite blocks) and inside I have a basement where I would like to level the walls (see picture).

I have read that one should use some sort of hydraulic lime mortar as it shouldn't be too strong, and what I wonder is if someone could tell me more exactly what I should use. At my local hardware store, they suggested I use cement (!).

I won't need completely flat surfaces, just a continuous interior that can be painted (with lime paint?) to freshen up the space, which is currently a wine cellar.

Old stone foundation with rough, uneven surfaces in a cellar. The stone wall shows signs of wear, with gaps and cracks visible throughout.

How did it go?
