I'm considering a large window section of 5 x 2.3 meters. What is needed for reinforcement above to handle the load? No weight should be placed on the window section.

What is above? Is it on the gable or the long side? Steel is more expensive and stiffer at the same dimensions as a glulam. 5m is a substantial opening, so if the wall carries load from roof trusses, a hefty glulam beam is needed.

It's the long side, so will need to support trusses.
