Hi

I found some earlier threads but they are a few years old, so I'm asking again in case anything has changed over time.

I'm going to lay laminate flooring in a basement room.

There is underfloor heating embedded in a 10cm concrete slab with 30cm insulation underneath and a makkadambädd and underlayment.

It's dry and nice, good drainage, and no signs of moisture anywhere.

It's going to be a bedroom.

Should I lay with foam, paper, or something else underneath?

I actually want tiles, but there's resistance to this at home ;)

I had added foam to get at least some cushion for the heels ;)

Yes, was also considering foam for leveling and damping :)

Just went shopping at hornbach

Got 5mm foam boards that you assemble like a puzzle. (29kr/m2)

7mm laminate flooring for 79kr/m2 (walnut)

And impulse buy = 2 folding rulers and 1 caliper :)

Let's see if I have time to try it out on Sunday :)

O
Caliper? I have just invested in a new eyemeasure...
along with a perspective...

You mean there's someone who'd rather have laminate than tiles? :x

Yep, and if I want to maintain my political position in the world, I should listen ;)

Calipers and folding rulers are consumables that can neither be impulsively bought nor purchased in excessive quantities ;)
The only thing I've always wondered is where they end up?

They shrink and eventually vanish

The folding ruler I had before had shrunk by 20cm :)

I am in the same situation as you, but I'm using ProVenti which is foam with age-resistant plastic.

He he, I installed a road barrier a few years ago after someone tried to get up to the house during construction, but my unplowed slope finally stopped them in the last curve.

I impulsively bought a road barrier and realized when I got it home after a few days that the ground was frozen, so I threw the thing in the bushes =P

A few years later, I got motivated to set up the barrier but realized it wasn't long enough... So I need to extend it with an insert tube and for that, I needed calipers ;)

It's only taken me about 4-5 years to try to complete the project, and I've never been this close before ;)

All tools are needed :)

I wonder if I didn't see something similar, but with metal foil but got unsure and went with plain "gym mat" :)

Yes, calipers are a very important and widely used tool. Which reminds me that I need to measure the diameter of the trailer's drawbar so I can buy a new damask that fits :)

Green flooring underlayment being installed over concrete in a renovation project, with a vacuum and tools nearby. Room with partially installed wood flooring, vacuum, tools, and green insulation boards on the floor for leveling height differences. A newly installed wooden floor in an empty room with a wall-mounted TV bracket and ceiling lights.

Great groundwork :)

Now it only remains to be seen how it holds up over time but the groundwork absorbed height differences etc 👍

Age-resistant plastic and regular grey cardboard are what I would have used. If it had been a slab on the ground or relatively newly built, I would have used a tested system like Fonda special.
