How should I frame for a ceiling with spotlights?
I was thinking of using 45x45 battens, but I'm wondering if I should lay them in both directions, so to speak?
Or is it enough to lay them in one row?
Maybe explained poorly, but I hope someone understands 😊

Do you need 45mm depth for the spotlights? Maybe you can use smaller joists or something similar? How close were you planning to set them and what type of ceiling?

Yes, I thought so, then there's room for the hoses and stuff for the spotlights. The ceiling I'm going to have is called Forestia.

Ok. Which spots and how many?

Drive with LED spotlights and you'll handle the heat.

What do you have above the ceiling? If you can access it, it's better to install ROT boxes and LED. It's unfortunate to lose 5.8 cm in ceiling height by having to lower the ceiling.

S
always nice with more than 45mm surface when attaching such boards, preferably 70mm wide

I used 28x70 when we lowered the ceiling for spotlights and electricity. :)

Okay, very good tips here😊
Does anyone know of any good LED spotlights?

We used Hidealite comfort G2, quite expensive but I think they worked well both during installation and use (one driver per lamp). I just saw that there is also a variant called "tune" that gives a yellower light when dimmed down and whiter at higher brightness - sounds interesting.

Wooden wall frame with 45x45 timber studs and installed junction boxes for LED spotlights. Electrical wires are visible, prior to drywall installation. I used 45x45 studs to accommodate outlet boxes for LED spotlights Malmberg MD-90. Tested the spotlights and dimmer on the kitchen table beforehand, turned out really well. The drywall is up now.

Which way do you put the roof then? 🤔 Does it really matter? I just thought it would be easier to put the studs across instead of along as the roof should be.

The frame is twisted, everything is already on the ceiling. I wanted the studs perpendicular to the existing wooden planks, as well as a frame around. Underneath, there's gypsum which is not facing any particular direction.

I replaced my old halogen spotlights with new Philips LED bulbs bought at Jula for about 100 SEK each. They were dimmable as well. Very satisfied. In the summer cottage, I replaced the 12-volt spotlights with Biltema's LED bulbs, the only downside there is that they interfere with the stereo!
