Planning to have a 9-meter glulam beam in the ridge of the garage build.

I've got a good price on glulam from several places except the local building supply store... :(
...which means freight costs/problems.

Considering buying the beam split to then splice it together, naturally over a post. Besides the transport home, it is also easier to "throw up" a 4 + 5 m beam 4.5 meters up against the sky.

Naturally, I understand that a whole beam is preferable, but does it really matter? What happens stability-wise? :-?

/Best regards, Linus

If you have it as a ridge beam it has little significance. If you have it with point support at the ends and replace it with 2 beams, you get a completely different moment curve. But as I said in your case, there are no problems.

Splice over the post with nail plates on each side and anchor screws, it works fine.
