I have plans to install folding doors in my house. The problem I have is that the height to my roof trusses is about 200 cm, and the height of the folding panels is 199 cm. Is it possible to notch out and recess an I/H beam as per the picture and still have sufficient load-bearing capacity? I was planning to place fittings in each beam to achieve higher strength, but is that enough? The roof is open up to the ridge. The width of the folding doors is about 250 cm. There is a metal roof on the roof today. The total width of the roof is about 8 meters, i.e., 4 meters to the ridge. Diagram showing a proposed structural adjustment for folding doors, with an I/H beam integrated into the roof structure to maintain support.
