Hello forum!

I'm working on the pre-planning of my basement, which will become living space, a bathroom, and storage.

I'm looking at Isodrän's different approaches and my interest got caught by their low-profile solution.

- leveling layer
- 200mm Isodrän
- age-resistant plastic
- chipboard with underfloor heating
- laminate/wood floor

I've surfed around the internet without finding much information about opinions and experiences.

Has anyone tried this and would like to tell more?

Best regards!!

We used Isodrän when we renovated our basement. However, we chose to remove all organic materials, so on a thin leveling layer and Isodrän boards, we poured a concrete floor with waterborne underfloor heating that was then covered with tiles.

The spaces in the basement are now used as a TV room, laundry room (only sealing around the floor drain), and bathroom (diffusion-open sealing).

The house was built in 1936, so there is no capillary-breaking layer externally otherwise.

We have not experienced any problems with this solution and it has provided a good environment in the basement.

I understand that concrete on top is a common result meant to provide satisfactory outcomes, but I probably didn't make my question clear enough. What I'm curious about is their low construction method according to the picture.

  • Cross-section diagram of a low-built foundation method showing layers like polyethylene sheet, foam board, and drainage layer.
Have you managed to proceed with building in this way? I'm a bit curious about it myself. Possibly, I see an issue with potential clogs in the sewage system in adjacent wet rooms. On the other hand, that wouldn't be fun regardless.

Have you spoken directly with isodrän?

Did you implement this?
