We are planning to buy a house and are considering using leveling compound on the floor. Do you have any wise guesses or knowledge about the pillar? Can it be removed?

It would be helpful if you could complement with either images or a drawing. Otherwise, it will just be a lot of guesswork.

Thanks! The problem is that it's a house/summer house we are planning to buy, so we don't have any drawings or anything. But my guess is that it probably ended up there when the floor was installed. Maybe a wall was removed, or it's just there to support the weight.

Hard to say anything then, but a guess is that you need to keep it. It's rare to set up a pillar just for show. Sorry, guessing that's not what you wanted to hear.

But you can't just ask if a pillar can be removed like that in the most general sense. How is anyone supposed to answer that?

Of course, I don't expect an exact answer about how many kg of pressure the floor can withstand if it's removed. What I'm looking for are more perspectives and insights from people who are more experienced with this kind of thing than I am. It's easier to ask the right questions and have more material if you've gathered wise thoughts from more knowledgeable individuals.
Please try to understand me correctly.

Thanks for the answer. That was my immediate thought right when I saw it :)

Am I the only one who can't see the image?

There is no image. Imagine a random pillar and consider whether it can be removed.

Basement with wooden stairs, concrete walls, and a metal support pole. There are two open wooden doors and a fluorescent ceiling light. That post. I added two pictures and got it confirmed, but it must have fallen off. Sorry.

Haha! Yeah, a bit difficult. I added an image but don't know. I must have done something wrong when I pressed send. Now it should be included

That's a stamp. Not a good sign at all. It probably sits there for a good (i.e., bad) reason.

It cannot be removed without being replaced by something else. The cut-off beam is supported by this.
