Hello
I am in the middle of a major renovation of my newly purchased house and would need help with the insulation on the upper floor.
The house is from the 80s and has about 70 sqm on the upper floor.
I want to eliminate sound, meaning I don't want to hear children running/screaming when I am on the lower floor.
What should I have between the beams under the floor, etc.
The studs are 22 cm high, and it is currently empty between the ceiling and floor.
I will also have waterborne underfloor heating, so I will lay grooved chipboard, which I will then place herringbone parquet on.

I have planned to do the following and would like to hear if anyone has a better idea

1. Fill between the beams with 145mm stone wool boards from the brand Rockwool or Paroc.
2. Seal with grooved chipboard.
3. Lay some form of soundproofing mat/board, not sure which one.
4. Lay 8-10mm plywood, MDF, or other strong material, as specified in the instructions for the herringbone parquet.
5. Install the parquet.

Here are the products I plan to use and pictures of how it looks today.

One suggestion is to use cellulose insulation rather than mineral wool. It is heavier and therefore has better soundproofing capability. You can advantageously use loose insulation so that it becomes really well-filled and completely free from gaps, which has a significant impact on soundproofing.

Thank you for your response.
I have looked at cellulose insulation (icell) but it's almost twice as expensive as stone wool. Does it really make such a big difference?

Not significantly and definitely not for impact sound. A tip is to read about acoustics in wooden joists on träguiden.
