Hello,
I have a cabin from the 40s that I am now planning to completely insulate: roof, walls, and floor.
The floor is a bit tricky; I don't want to tear it up from the inside because the plank floor is so beautiful, undamaged, dry, and doesn't creak. Even the subfloor (made of nailed planks) is completely undamaged in terms of moisture, etc. I have about 50 cm between the ground and the subfloor. The foundation is a pier foundation, which makes it well ventilated.
I am now considering different ways to lay insulation on the underside of the subfloor.
- plastic foil on the ground in all options
- hard facade board about 100mm without surface protection
- Isover Duo with an aluminum layer on one side
- Foam plastic
All tips and experiences on the subject are welcome with open arms since there doesn't seem to be any patented solution to this problem, or rather challenge.
