Hi!
I need to add insulation to the floor in the bathroom. We live in an old house, but the bathroom is in a newer extension (2017). The extension is on stilts, and in the winter, the water to the bathroom sometimes freezes. We have underfloor heating, but it doesn't help, and the underfloor heating isn't able to keep the floor particularly warm.
How does one go about adding insulation from the outside, without having to tear down anything on the existing extension? Is Västkustskivan a good option? Or Hunton wood fiber insulation?
Best regards, Stefan

It's the water that tends to freeze then. Drains usually don't freeze unless a toilet is continuously flushing, which doesn't normally happen. If no water pipes are visible, they are in the joists, so you must insulate everything underneath. What you choose is a matter of taste. A bit tight around the drain pipes to make it completely covering. Otherwise, EPS or XPS 0.5 thick is the same as 50 cm of soil and are rigid, can be carved with a knife for fitting. Attach with long screws and large washers.

Can't you insulate with XPS/EPS (Styrofoam) from underneath then - for example 70mm?Per Sigvard said:
