I am going to renovate the entire basement. The walls are concrete. Should I insulate the walls facing outwards? Or does it just create more problems? I remember hearing that concrete walls should be insulated from the outside and not from the inside.
If I should insulate them, what should I consider? Air gap against the concrete, polystyrene?
I was thinking of using metal studs.

It is true that you should insulate from the outside so that the moisture can migrate outward. I have also renovated my basement, but I started with re-draining and put podrän panels on the outside. I also built new walls on the inside with an air gap, then I framed with metal studs and insulated. Then an OSB and drywall.
