We have a wooden house from '64 later extended in '86 with horizontal wood paneling. It's a bit like a "summer cottage," and now we've decided to remove the wood paneling and apply Sto with white plaster.
We have spoken with everyone from carpenters, facade experts, and builders, and we've received different answers about the insulation and air gaps. I am desperate as I'm starting in three weeks.
The house consists internally of gypsum, 60 studs, insulation, plastic, asphalt board, small battens, and beveled paneling. I plan to remove the beveled paneling and small battens myself and then have a carpenter apply additional insulation (gypsum) and then have a facade company apply Sto and paint.
So my question is - can we keep the asphalt board and put the additional insulation directly on it, or should we keep the small battens as an air gap, or do we need to remove the asphalt board to avoid moisture problems? I believe there are as many answers as people in Helsingborg, so I turn to the highly competent friends I've made in this forum.
Thankful for any answers.
