I'm trying to find solid information and recommendations, but I'm coming up empty-handed. In the garage and workshop located on the basement level beneath the residential area, I was planning to install double gypsum boards for fire protection, but I'm considering if fibercement board, like Minerit, might be a better choice. Considering the activity and rough use in the garage, the gypsum will inevitably get damaged sooner or later. A layer of fibercement board is significantly more durable and seems to offer fire protection in the same class as double gypsum. Sprinklers will also be installed in the ceiling as extra protection. The visibility of screw heads and joints doesn't matter in this space. I will paint the board with white paint. That should suffice.

Has anyone done this, have recommendations, or advise against it entirely?

Shoot! I read it, but apparently didn't pay close attention. So it works with one (1) 12mm board for EI30 in my case.

Thank you very much!
