I will set up a new interior wall in a larger living room to create an extra bedroom or office. I will need to move ceiling outlets, wall outlets, and light switches to the new wall, as well as open a door in an adjacent wall. I have some questions before getting started:
  • There is currently parquet flooring, the part that will end up under the wall, does it need to be removed?
  • I was thinking of putting OSB or plywood behind the drywall, but which should I choose?
  • How can I achieve good sound insulation between the rooms?
  • How far from the wall corner should wall outlets be placed?

You might have problems with the parquet floor if you fix it against a wall.

OSB is sufficient.

Have insulation in the wall.

Wall sockets should be attached to a stud, so it depends where the studs will be located.

if you don't screw the frame into the parquet, you can keep it. You can cut the parquet under the wall if you want.

choose what you want as the price differs. Plywood is higher quality.

sound insulation is based on three things. 1) weight of the surface layer. (Gypsum is good in relation to price) 2) the distance between, i.e., the thickness of the studs determines the wall's own frequency. The lower, the better. Gypsum reduces about 6dB in the harmonic overtones of its own frequency. 3) insulation takes care of parts of internal resonances

Wall outlets are placed about 250-300 from a corner.
