I'm going to buy a house with an outbuilding on the property. The idea is to replace a door with a garage door on one short side of the outbuilding.
Initially, it will just be an opening to later install a proper door. I'm thinking of installing studs to support the roof at the edge of the opening. But how strong does the roof beam need to be to handle a span of about 3 meters? I've googled but can't find what I'm looking for...

Use as strong as the space allows.
One can also build a truss with two studs next to each other.

Do you mean with spacing between the studs? I was thinking of combining 2 45*90 studs.

It sounds weak for that span.
Can't you go up higher in dimension then?

Yes, I can. What do you recommend?
I haven't tackled load-bearing walls before.

As I wrote in #2, I would have taken as strongly as the space allows.
At least 45x145, preferably 45x170mm.

Then that's how it will be!! Thank you for your advice!!!! :-D
