How to screw chipboard and drywall?
We will have double walls everywhere, chipboard underneath and then gypsum. I will install them so that the joints overlap, I think that's best. But my question is:
Should I screw the gypsum just into the chipboard or should I also secure the gypsum to the studs?
What do you say?

I'm considering using fewer screws for the chipboard in studs and then the usual amount of screws for the drywall in studs to save on some chipboard screws (or maybe mostly time actually...the screws aren't that expensive anyway) good or bad idea?
My NCC handyman acquaintance almost fainted when he saw how ambitiously I had screwed the OSB boards. He told me to just fasten the OSB just enough so it holds (4-10 screws), then the double-length drywall screw will take care of the rest.
I understand the sarcasm, but NCC is quite a large company...
Sometimes I feel it gets a bit too generalized regarding construction workers' skills and dedication.
(I am also a kålsupare in this context...)
Additionally, the modern mistakes were not primarily on the execution side, but rather on the planning side.
But don't get me wrong. The joke is harmless and quite funny. You just happened to land in a bigger context right now, so don't take it personally.
There are too many bad construction workers for us to waste our time criticizing the ones that are good, is my conclusion.

Nix - exactly, but I just couldn't help myself
.
My NCC friend is very competent and pragmatic. As a home tinkerer, you tend to do things a bit too ambitiously when you don't know how precise things need to be.
When he comes over and points with his whole hand and says you can't do it like that, it feels pretty good.

I knew we were in agreement.
And I'll say it again; I was in no way after you in this specific case!!
And the whole Moderna deserves a punch...
Embarrassing, said Bull.
And everyone in the project should have a piece of the stew.
So...
You simply did the right thing by giving them a jab in this case.

I have reasoned exactly the opposite.
What should be attached to the plasterboard? Well, wallpaper and paint. Thus it's enough with a screw in each corner or as many as needed to ensure the plasterboard lies flush against the OSB.
The OSB, on the other hand, will have pictures, shelves, and other trinkets hanging from it, so I want it to be firmly attached. Consequently, I have screwed it in securely.

I said that it "suffices" with one screw in each corner, I didn't say that I screwed with one in each corner. In true DIY spirit, I have of course attached all boards with through-stainless bolts (or equivalent), even if I might have had an increased focus on fastening the OSB rather than the plasterboard.... ;DTiGGrE said:
NIX!
I can't assess their competence, since I myself have none in the field, but I can testify to their commitment: COMPLETELY NONEXISTENT. This applies equally to the contracting part as to the salesperson and their manager.
I just hope you don't take it personally, I reasoned much like you when we decided on them. In hindsight, we are more disappointed than satisfied.
