How to tighten this screw?

I am going to install a new handrail in the stairs and have bought this handrail bracket. But how am I supposed to screw in this 10mm wood screw when there's nowhere to grip with a wrench on it? You're not supposed to ruin the machine threads with pliers, right?

Use locknuts

If both of the above tips lead nowhere, take two nuts that fit and lock them together on the screw (screw them on and then tighten them together, but not so much that it hurts your hands, just so they can't be turned anymore; otherwise, you risk stretching the screw so that you can't remove the nuts/attach the railing holder). Then, turn the outer nut to screw in the screw, and the inner one to back out if you go too far.

You don't even need to hold them if you've locked them into each other, they sort of stick anyway.

Screw the hook onto the smaller threads and then use it as a handle to screw in the wood screw.
