How to splice round oak handrail?
I bought three sections of Lundbergs 45 mm round oak handrail. They are sold in pieces of 2300 mm. Now I need to splice, but can't find information anywhere on HOW!
The handrail has a 10 mm hole at each end that I suspect is meant for attaching end caps. When I cut the length I need, this hole will disappear.
The guy at Beijers suggested I could insert a 10 mm dowel and glue at the splice, but I don't think it will hold. I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is a "splice bolt" for this purpose. Does anyone know?

I used dowel, at least 10mm. Drilling a new hole is like sending someone to the moon... Maybe easier if you have better tools. This is how I did it. Saw off a 7 cm piece to use as a template. Drill through it as straight as possible. Then let the piece rotate freely on the drill, now you can clearly see how skewed you actually drilled. Press sandpaper against the end grain until it becomes completely flat. Then use it as a template. It worked for me. If you have better tools, it might be 100 times easier. So I've started reading tool threads myself...

I have purchased railing and handrails from Crosinox.se with 45 Oak handrails.
These are joined with special fittings and stainless steel ends if you like that.
I have used http://www.crosinox.se/product.aspx?ProdId=E604
