Hello! I have a chimney with a lot of frost damage (brick) that has flaked off, etc.
Question 1: Can I use regular mortar to fill in and repair these holes/pieces that have fallen off... I am considering encapsulating it in metal in the future.
Question 2: When repairing joints that are bad, a bit of mortar or whatever I use is bound to get on the brick... How do you remove that? I've been wondering about this as I've looked at the old facade where there isn't a grain of cement on the brick. But the joints are so perfectly even and nice. I can only say that I would like to meet the person who did it...
