Hello. I'm about to repaint a room where a TV used to be, and these anchors are in the wall. Does anyone have tips on how to remove them? Is a hacksaw blade the best option? Wall with metal wall anchors where a TV was mounted; asking for removal tips, possibly using a hacksaw blade.

Normally, it should be enough to pry a little under the collar with e.g. a knife so the collar will come loose, and the rest you can push into the wall.

That's molly you have there. A nuisance to remove, very large on the back, just twist them around and they drill out a big hole and push into the wall, then plaster.

It is "Mollypluggar". It might be possible to drill off the collar. If not, you'll need to cut away the plaster around the plug and push it in a bit, then fill it. Here, I found a video with someone who is smarter than I am! This method seems much better than my suggestions.

Better than mine too, haven't thought about doing it that way, clearly the wings on the back straighten out :D

Thank you for a great tip!!! Will test it! Just realized I threw away the screw for them. Might have to buy new ones to remove the old ones! The wall is not plaster but a wood fiberboard.

Grab the brick you see with pliers and wiggle it a bit, and it will come loose. The rest you poke into the wall.

Insert the screw that fits and turn it only a couple of times. Then tap gently with a hammer to straighten the part behind the drywall. After that, you can pull it straight out of the wall....

This works if you're careful, but there's also a risk that you might crack the drywall.

Then you have to spackle over it and look happy! :D

Worked perfectly! Thanks a lot for the tip! Now it's just about puttying. Wall with several drilled holes, ready to be filled with spackle after successful repair tip.

Have you done a proper evaluation of all the tips?

No. Went with the video tip that seemed most effective. Took about 5 min including fetching a hammer and pliers.:D
