How to hang cabinets in double plasterboard, too tight behind plaster for toggle anchor
Page 1 of 2
I am going to hang an Ikea Ivar cabinet on a drywall. I was planning to use two molly bolts, but after drilling, I discovered that it is double drywall ~26mm. Additionally, there seems to be another wall behind the drywall, so there is no room for longer bolts/screws than 55mm. I can't find any molly bolts under 55mm made for double drywall. Does anyone have tips on how I can hang the cabinet?
It depends a bit on what the wall behind is made of, if you can insert something like a threaded rod. Otherwise, I would experiment with some type of sealant or adhesive in a hole, and then press in a plug before it hardens. It will hold like a rock if you press it in so it forms a lump between the walls.
I don't really know what the wall behind is, so I would preferably not drill into it. What type of plug would be suitable in combination with sealant or setting adhesive?J Jocke Best said:Depends a bit on what the wall behind is, if you can insert something like a threaded rod. You can't just hang a cabinet with molly plugs in a drywall! At least that's what I think!
But if you have steel studs, you have air behind the drywall. You don't have more layers of boards behind, do you?
What kind of house is it and what kind of wall? Against a neighbor if it's a multi-family house?

Doesn't seem to be more than 30mm of air behind the boards. The wall behind feels like concrete. It faces a neighbor, it's a multi-family house.Matti_75 said:
