Hello,

As the title states, how do I manage leveled screed from the threshold?

  • Close-up of a door threshold with visible leveling compound and a section of patterned tiles on the floor.
It depends a bit on how long it's been there, but if it hasn't been long, it might just wash off with a little water and a sponge or a Wettex cloth. If it sticks harder (it doesn't adhere very well to a lacquered surface), you can sacrifice a dish brush and use the upper edge to scrape with. Then wash off the rest. If that doesn’t work, you can sacrifice a utility knife to scrape with and then wash. If you scrape carefully, the lacquer might survive, and you can avoid having to repaint the threshold.

If you go with etompau's method above with a scraper and sandpaper, you won’t avoid having to repaint the threshold, and then all the lacquer has to be removed. It will not only be more expensive and a lot of work, but you’ll also ruin the scraper.
